DID YOU KNOW?
Glenwood's Media Center is named The Peter Garvin Library, which opened in 1953. It was created in the memory of a Glenwood student, nine year old Peter Cyle Garvin. His mother, Margaret Garvin, was serving as a member of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro city school board when the new Glenwood Elementary was built. At the time there was not enough money to support a library. Community funds were donated to form a library and the Peter Garvin Library opened with 1,500 books. The media center was renovated and rededicated on November 6, 1996 and Mrs. Margaret Garvin was present for the ceremony.
