Welcome to Leak's Learning Lookout!

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a Durham native, a recent graduate of North Carolina Central University, and a second year teacher. My philosophy of education can be summed up in this ancient Chinese proverb, “"Tell me and I'll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I'll understand." Thank you for sharing your child, and yourselves, with us this year. We are excited about being partners with you in your child’s development. Two main goals drive our planning and actions throughout the school year. Our first goal is to provide an environment that challenges each student to reach his or her highest potential. We will achieve this goal by creating and environment where students are challenged to think, explore, discover, and question their surroundings. A variety of teaching methods and materials will be used to help each learner succeed and make learning fun! Our second goal is for your child to feel that he or she is a valued member of our learning community. We will create this environment through modeling actions that demonstrate respect for each person’s ideas and contributions.
