The family specialist / school social worker is an integral part of the teaching/learning team.  I work closely with the counselor, administrators, teachers, nurse, school psychologist, and other school and community personnel to enhance the academic and social development of all students.  I also work with students and families to stengthen the connections between home, school, and community resources.

I provide a variety of supports:

Family Support

• Parent / guardian consultation
• Referrals to community supports and services (housing, medical, mental health, financial, child care, summer camps, etc.)
• Home visits
• Crisis prevention and intervention
• Parent groups and parent education

Student Support

• Crisis prevention and intervention
• Referrals to community supports and services

• Monitoring school attendance
• Advocating for students

School and System Support

• School staff consultation
• Professional development
• Member of Student Support Team
• Chair of Crisis Response Team
• Collaboration with community agencies
