Have a wonderful and restful summer!

Rising 8th graders: Want to do some extra credit this summer?

Complete one of the following for an extra quiz or test grade depending on the time and effort involved:

A. Follow the Tour de France- use official website to...   http://www.letour.fr/

  1. Write 15-20 new vocabulary in French: ex: maillot jaune
  2. Create scrapbook of articles with your personal summaries
  3. Draw a map of the cycling Tour around France
  4. Imagine you were a on a cycling team; which team would you represent and why, and explain what stage of the Tour would be the most difficult and why.
  5. Who do you want to win the tour? Why?

B. Create a picture scrapbook or powerpoint on "Des Experiences francaises" a Chapel Hill et Carrboro.

  1. Take pictures  or record where you can French french words, pictures, signs or symbols around our beautiful towns and explain what they mean. For example: Meadowmont has a clothing shop named "Fleur" and it means flower...this shop caters to women because they sell women's clothes..

C. Create a scrapbook of English words in the French language as you find them in newspapers and magazines. Cut out the complete sentence, highlight the word or phrases and explain what it means. For example:  The soccer team had developed a great sense of esprit de corps.  Esprit de Corps means team spirit or literally " spirit of the body".

D. Your own French summer-fun idea. Just email me and let me know what it is! rmcmahon@chccs.k12.nc.us
