  McDougle After-School is a five star licensed school program for students in grades K5. The program provides a balance between structured and free choice activities designed to stimulate the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of children.

Hours of Operation

2:30pm -6:00pm Regular School Days
7:45am - 5:45pm Teacher Workdays - optional
7:45am - 5:45pm Spring Break Care - optional

Closed during holidays and most school breaks
Students must be enrolled in the regular After-School program in order to access care during spring break. Teacher workdays are open to students enrolled at McDougle Elementary School.

 1 staff person for 16 children and 1 staff person for 12 kindergarten children.
Cost (per child)
$40 registration fee
$105.00 deposit
$210.00 monthly tuition

The After-School program provides the following supervised activities, experiences:
  • Weekly themes and enrichment through music, dramatic play, language arts, science, social studies. cooking and other explorations
  • Organized indoor and outdoor games
  • Arts and crafts projects using a wide variety of materials
  • Guest presenters and performers such as magicians, drama groups and scientists
  • Homework and quiet time
  • Club activities that foster the interest of students
  • Awareness of and involvement in the community at large
  • Time to pursue social interaction with a diverse group of students
Program Location
The After-School office is located beside the multipurpose room. The program also uses other areas dependent on the school, such as the media center, kids' kitchens, and classrooms.
Attendance
Students report to After-School immediately following the close of the school day. Attendance is closely monitored and checked against the school absentee list. If a student cannot be located, the parents are contacted.
Credentials
The McDougle After-School is licensed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child Development. The program is a five star program and adheres to National Accreditation Association Standards.
