Welcome to Ms. L's site where (hopefully) you will be able to find everything you will need for any class she has ever taught. Why? Because Ms. L believes that education should be freely available to all who want it, and works hard to make that person be you.
Chemistry
Pre-/Co-requisite: Algebra II
The concepts and principles of chemistry are presented in greater depth and at a more rapid pace than in Academic Chemistry. Students perform extensive research, independent study, and laboratory work. Theoretical and mathematical relationships in chemistry are studied. The final exam is the North Carolina Chemistry End-of-Course Test. Successful completion of one semester of Chemistry meets the high school graduation requirement for physical sciences.
Earth and Environmental Science

Students should spend approximately forty percent (40%) of their class time engaged in hands-on activities. Introductory principles of astronomy and Earth sciences will be explored, including the solar system, cosmology, plate tectonics, energy, biogeochemical cycles, the atmosphere, and North Carolina geology. Constructivist methods of teaching are employed to ensure the best possible comprehension and retention of science concepts. Science activities will be based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study Content Standards and will apply the skills and techniques outlined in the Investigation and Experimentation Strand of the Content Standards. Successful completion of one semester of Earth Science meets the high school graduation requirement for earth science.
