 Frank Porter Graham Elementary School School Improvement Team The School Improvement Team (SIT) is composed of the principal and assistant principal and elected members from the parent/staff community: five-six parents, two classroom teachers (grades K-2, 3-5), one-two instructional support teachers, and a classified staff member (Teaching Assistant). Elected members serve a two-year term and meet once a month. Members can be re-elected for a second two-year term and then must sit off the team for at least a year. Members cannot miss more than two consecutive meetings. The Frank Porter Graham School Improvement Team is responsible for: - the development and review of the School Improvement Plan;
- providing input into the End of Year Status Report on the SIP and the review of the final report at the beginning of the school year;
- approval of the capital and operational budget request to be considered by the Superintendent and the Board of Education (BOE) for the following year;
- soliciting input from and hearing the concerns of constituents about school programs and other aspects of student life;
- reviewing the results of all relevant state and district administered surveys in preparation and review of its SIP;
- providing counsel to the BOE on issues and policies that will come before the board;
- assisting with the selection of new principal, if necessary;
- serving in an advisory capacity to the principal and providing input on issues such as school climate, safety, programs, and philosophy;
- initiating requests for local position exchanges, though approval must be made by both the SIT and school faculty; and
- advocating for our school at the local, state, and/or national levels.
SIT meetings are open to the public and provide a forum for parents and staff members to address matters of importance to the FPG school community. If you have any questions about the SIT or would like to bring an issue before the SIT during the Community Comments portion of the agenda, please either contact Parent Co-Chair Tiki Gwynne (hartshorntiki@hotmail.com) or Staff Co-Chair Vickie Lineberry (vlineberry@chccs.k12.nc.us) or come to our next meeting and speak during the Public Comments section at the beginning of each agenda. |
